Dually licensed by the USCG and the State of Texas, the Matagorda Bay Pilots have been guiding ocean going ships to and from the Port of Point Comfort since 1969. Its not uncommon for the entrance currents to exceed 6 knots and sea heights in excess of 12' The pilots paramount priority is the safety of all vessels transiting the channel, the waterways pristine ecosystem, the ports users and the publics welfare.
